2005 September

This month?
Just a short newsletter this month (your editor is still recovering from the school holidays!). Back to top
Financial Entitlements
The main thing is to remind everyone of the Parents Meeting on Wednesday 21st September. The Guest Speakers will be from the Barnsley Welfare Rights Service speaking about the various financial entitlements and benefits which may be claimed as a consequence of our children's AS. You may know some of the benefits already, but this is a good chance to see if there's any you've missed. Back to top
Parents Meeting held on 17 Aug 2005
Just a small group of parents came to the August Parents Meeting (holiday season of course, and we hadn't booked a guest speaker). But we agreed it had been well worthwhile, as it gave us a chance to talk about our experiences in a way which isn't always so easy in a larger meeting. Back to top
Seminars and Conferences
Please note that there are some conferences and seminars happening soon in our area. Please find them in the table below. If you decide to go then please let us know - it would be great to hear what happened. Back to top
Future Meetings and Events
Tues 13th Sept. Parent Support Training (1), 9:45 arrival, 10am to 1pm.Luke Beardon from Sheffield Hallam was a guest speaker for us earlier this year, and now he has agreed to provide some training for our prospective Parent Supporters. As mentioned in the July Newsletter, the group is sometimes asked to provide individual support to parents who are facing difficult situations such as school meetings, challenging behaviour at home etc. Whilst BAPG doesn't have the specialist skills, we are a support group and do want to be able to help each other. This is the first part of the training to help us do this.If you are interested in occasional helping another in this way and would like to be involved then please contact any of the Steering Committee (contacts below).
Tues 20th Sept. Steering Committee Meeting, 9:30 to 11:00am.Any BAPG parent is welcome to come along! If you'd like to raise an issue please feel free to contact any of the Steering Group first otherwise see you there!
