New Street Child & Adolescent Unit
The Service
The Child and Adolescent Unit is based at New Street Health Centre in Barnsley.The unit is a team of child psychiatrists, specialist nurses, psychologists, specialist social workers and an art therapist.
The Unit sees children and young people up to the age of 16 (school leaving age) and their families.
They see children and families who are experiencing a wide range of problems including: behavioural porblems; psychological and emotional problems; difficult relationships; trauma or abuse. Back to top
Referrals
The Unit accepts referrals from psychologists, all health professionals, social workers and education/court welfare officers.Young people with school problems are first seen by specilaist education workers who refer on to the Unit when necessary.
The Unit does not accept self-referrals. Back to top
